Kim Johnson

DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. Kim Johnson received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science (with honors) before pursuing her veterinary degree from Mississippi State University. After graduating in 2002, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a 3-year residency in oncology at the University of Missouri.  Dr. Johnson was accepted into the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2007.   She returned to the University of Mississippi as assistant professor in Oncology until 2010 and received the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award.  She is presently completing her PhD in Pathobiology and is a course instructor at St. George’s University.

Special interests of Dr. Johnson include carbohydrate therapy for the treatment of canine hemangiosarcoma, the effect of urine pH on Veterinary Bladder Tumor Antigen test results, body condition and metabolic status (leptin, TNFa, IV glucose tolerance testing and lipoproteins) in dogs with cancer and ATF2 mutation in Standard Poodles and mammary carcinoma development.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology as well as the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the AVMA. She promises to provide the highest level of professional care to clients and their pets and will work alongside family veterinarians to ensure the best oncology medicine available.  Her goal is the best quality of life possible throughout each patient’s treatment.
