DVM, MS, cVMA, Diplomate ACVAA (Clinical Anesthesiologist)
Dr. Haan is a native New Englander who was born and raised on the south shore of Massachusetts. She received a Bachelors of Science (biopsychology) from Tufts University, a Master in Laboratory Animal Science (2007) from Drexel University and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (2012) from Colorado State University. After successful completion of her veterinary degree, she toured the country for a couple of years exploring general practice and emergency medicine before deciding to pursue her a career in anesthesia and pain management. A strong passion for pain management led to an anesthesia and pain management internship at Louisiana State University (2014) followed by a residency at Iowa State University (2015-2018.) Dr. Haan obtained board certification through the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) in 2018.
Areas of interest include local-regional anesthesia, pain assessment and management, management of high-risk and critically ill cases, exotics anesthesia, adjunctive analgesic practices including acupuncture and rehabilitation medicine, and chronic pain management.
Outside of work, Dr. Haan enjoys watching movies, playing board games, knitting, bowling and spending quality time with family and friends. She shares a house with one cat (Finn), one dog (Sawyer) and one wildlife biologist husband (Damon). Whenever possible, they spend their free time in the pursuit of outdoors activities both winter (skiing, snowshoeing) and summer (hiking, biking, camping, canoeing) based.
